This week's learning has been really helpful in understanding how to create and run a successful online business. I looked at two websites that are similar to my business idea and noticed they have some design features in common. For example, they both have a blog, about us page, and portfolio at the side of the page and in a clear and easy-to-use menu. They also show multiple high-quality photos on the front page and have security symbols to make customers feel safe. I also learned about the differences between e-commerce and non-ecommerce sites. One big difference between ecommerce and non-ecommerce websites is that ecommerce sites need a payment system and a shopping cart. This means ensuring the payment system is secure and following tax laws. This helped me understand all the tools that I am going to need to make sure everything is in place for purchasing to take place on my website. Overall, this week's learning has taught me a lot about what's important for an online business, like good design, security, and following the rules. Each week I feel a little more confident in some ways and a little less confident in others in starting an online business. All the tax laws and rules made it feel a little overwhelming but knowing there are platforms that will take care of those things for my website brings me a little peace. I got this.
