This week was one of those funny ones where you feel like the information is overwhelming and you don't think there is any chance that you are going to understand what’s going on but then by the end of the week you take the quiz and feel like an expert...well... almost. I learned a lot this week about how to understand google analytics. How and where to look to gather information from the reports and how to translate those reports into ways to improve and support my business. My major takeaway from this week is: Things are hard until they’re not: Many times this semester I have felt like this class is well over my head. But I have watched my mind slowly catch on and connect and then get things I once thought was impossible. At the beginning of this week I was challenged to find the answers to the google analytic quiz questions but after looking at my classmates responses and how they got their answers and watching the class video at least a few times. By the end of the week it was...
This week I learned about SEO's (search engine optimization) and how important social media can be in helping improve SEO's. From this weeks reading's and articles I learned that social media isn't just about making and posting content it also can be helpful in connection with your business plan to make that information or content searchable and tractable which in turn will lead people to my website and help get more traffic. I like that it is a free cost wise to promote my online business. I also learned more about what Google Analytics can do to help me know which social media sites are most effective for my online business. That is going to be an effective time saving tool. This week I also learned how to make a social media plan so that I know what to do and when and how to gather information to know if my plan is being effective. I have not appreciated social media in the past for what it can do to improve a websites performance. Now when I look at reels or post an...

Landing Page and Search Engine Optimization

This week, I learned about the importance of creating a solid online presence, especially when it comes to landing pages and search engine optimization (SEO). I learned that when you have a well-designed landing page, it is easier to turn visitors into customers. I also learned about some things I need to improve, like making my landing page more appealing, but not only that that I need to make sure that it is easy to navigate. Which I am sad to say I don’t think it is at the moment. It’s good to learn things that I need to improve on, though. I also learned a lot about SEO and the importance of keyword targeting and how to optimize the pages on my website. I learned about how important it is to understand what people are actually typing in when they are learning for a product like mine, and how I need to keep it simple by streamlining all my page titles, keywords, and even blog posts so that the search engines are picking up my site when people search for a photographer in Colorado....
This week was another challenging one. I had a really hard time trying to get some of the processes to work, and honestly, I am not sure if it's working. When I check on my Wix site, editing it says it is working, but it's been just a little confusing. I also found out that I started my ad campaign too soon. I thought I was starting to get the hang of things last week, and this week I want to cry. Haha, I guess that’s the way it goes. I feel sometimes I learn more in the weeks when it's harder because I have to put more effort into understanding. There is already a lot I would do better/differently. I am glad that this week we also learned how to improve things. I am continuing to strive to optimize my Google Ads Campaign. I have been able to make some changes that I hope with improve the performance and drive more targeted traffic to my site. An example of one of the changes I made was to pause the keyword phrase “Photography tips.” I paused it because of its high impressi...
Relevance, Quality Score, and Google Analytics This week, we learned about the world of relevance and quality score. I learned I have a lot more to do to improve that score. The readings in this week's assignments really drove home the importance of creating ads that will attract and motivate action from our target audience. I learned that I need to really think about the keywords I use to craft a message with the audience that will resonate with them. We also learned about Google Analytics this week. I can see how that is going to be super helpful in connection with the Google Ads to track where customers are clicking, where they are spending their time. It still all feels over my head a bit, and I am trying to hold on to how it all works, but I am getting there. Overall, this week has been helpful in my understanding of how to better run an online business. I think I am feeling less and less overwhelmed and more and more excited about this class and what I am learning as each we...
Every week in learning how to start an online business teaches me one more thing I never knew I never knew. This week, I have learned a lot more about the importance of the right headlines and descriptions for my Google Ad campaign. As I have been diving deep into the Google Ad world, I have enjoyed trying out different headlines and keywords and seeing what combinations produce the best advertisement outcomes. I learned a lot about how important relevance and keyword insertion are to making my ad more dynamic and also relevant to my potential clients. Overall, this learning experience was fun, and I can see its value of having good keywords, headlines, and descriptions in running an effective campaign. I am excited to see how my rewritten ad performs and to evaluate if any tweaks need to be made as I watch what traffic it produces. I am grateful that I somewhat understood what I was doing this week, and I am excited for next week's challenges.
Bad and Good Key Words This week we learned the importance of choosing keywords that people might use to search for our products that aren't too broad or too specific. What I learned about Keywords and Google Ads this week has been eye-opening. I never knew that companies choose keywords for their websites. I also didn’t realize how important it is to choose the right keywords to get more traffic to your website. I learned a lot this week about what makes a good keyword and a bad one. You don't want it to be too specific because that could hinder some potential clients but you also don't want it too broad or people will be led to your site that have no interest in your product. For my website, because I am offering Photography portraits in a specific location, it is important that my keywords lead people who need a photographer in Colorado. For example, a good keyword would be “Portrait photography Colorado” instead of just “Pictures”. I look forward to experimenting with ...
